Sintered AlNiCo Magnet

The Sintered AlNiCo Magnet process starts with the production of Sintered AlNiCo5 powder, which can be bought or custom made depending on specific needs. The Sintered AlNiCo powder is then milled into proper size, dried and concentrated before being mixed with polyamide resin binder through tumbler mixer. Once done, Sintered AlNico Magnet mixture will be transferred for die pressing. Sintered AlNiCo magnet mold is usually made out of tool steels since Sintered AlNiCo magnet tends to wear down the Sintered AlNiCo mold quickly. Sintered alnico Magnet mixture will then be placed into Sintered AlNiCo mold under high pressure, after which it will be compressed until they form green Sinter AlNiCo billet. Sintered Alnico magnets are fully dense upon cooling and can also be rod/disc/block/arc shaped according to mold design.

Unlike casted Alnico magnets, sintered Alnico magnet has lower magnetic properties but better mechanical characteristics. Mixes of metal powders are pressed to shape and size, and then sintered in a hydrogen atmosphere. The sintering process is well suited mass production, and results in parts that are structurally stronger than cast magnets. Relatively close tolerances can be achieved without grinding.
Alnico magnets are not as strong as Neodymium or Samarium Cobalt but are very stable over a wide temperature range and have a high magnetic flux density.
